The
first release in the "1/72 scale Canadian Heritage Series" will be the
legendary Avro CF-105 Arrow. The Arrow is a brand new tooling and will be of
similar quality to diecast made by Hobby Master and Century Wings.
This high
quality diecast replica comes factory painted with all markings pad-applied
for superb results. An option to display the aircraft with wheels up or down
is provided, along with a display stand. Length 13 7/8". Wing span 8 3/8".
The first release (SKU# CWH001) will be painted in the markings of aircraft
25203. Limited edition run of only 3000 pieces. Available in March 2010.
Arrow
25203 first flew on 22 September, 1958 and exceeded the speed of sound on
this maiden flight, sustaining a speed of Mach1.2. The exterior surfaces
were painted dayglo to assist observers focusing on specific components
under test. 203 was the only Arrow ever to sport the Canadian Commonwealth
flag ("Red Ensign") marking on the tail. The Avro Arrow was one of the
world's most advanced airplanes in its day, considered by many to be twenty
years ahead of its time. Arrow 203 flew for a total of 13.5 hours of flight
time before the Arrow program was cancelled by the Canadian government on 20
February 1959.
