SPITFIRE over AustraliaThe story of the restoration of a Spitfire fighter back to flying condition. Acquired by Colin Pay, a crop dusting pilot, this video shows how he laboriously rebuilt the aircraft from a corroded hulk into a superbly restored flying machine. During World war II more than 650 Spitfires (image) were delivered to the Royal Australian Air Force. This one, a Vickers Supermarine Spitfire HF Mk VII was built in 1944. Rare archival footage of the Spitfire in Australia is shown as well as extensive interviews with former Spitfire pilots. Excellent air to air sequences with close ups, along with take-offs and landings are shown. The Spitfire is also shown in flypasts with a de Havilland Vampire and P-51.Colour and B&W, 48 minutes, # V015... $29.95
